At HelloAlice, we believe that purpose and profit are perfect partners (how’s that for alliteration?). That’s why we teamed up with Johnson & Johnson, Dell Technologies, and Global Entrepreneurship Network to host Pitch with Purpose for the third time. First held in 2016, Pitch with Purpose was the first-ever purpose-based pitch competition for diverse business owners who are contributing to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The 2018 Pitch with Purpose finalists exemplify entrepreneurship in its best role-breaking, change-making form. The companies are creating a better world for all of us through technologies that support better behavioral health interventions, faster and more organized rapid response disaster relief, and environmentally friendly 3-D printing.

THE FINALISTS

Cloud 9

Cloud 9 sets stigma aside and expands accessibility with its app that helps physicians, hospitals, and law enforcement provide people with behavioral health needs proper care in real-time. The app uses remote attention to improve care, reduce costs, and add revenue.

NeedsList

NeedsList quickly connects those displaced or with an urgent need with real people in local non-governmental organizations that can provide rapid response assistance. It works in a three-step process where vetted groups get to know the need, groups collect suited assistance tools, and help is delivered.

re:3D

re:3d builds industrial 3-D printers and creates human-sized printouts that are not just fun, but practical. In addition to sculpture and furniture printing, the printers have been used for disaster response, like post-Hurricane Maria Puerto Rico, and can accept recycled plastics as feedstock. Through their Gigaprize program, re:3d also donates a Gigabot printer to a do-gooding community group for every 100 Gigabots sold.

THE COMPETITION

The finalists will pitch live at Fast Company Innovation Festival on October 24, 2018, in New York City, with the first place Pitch with Purpose finalist taking home $15,000, thanks to Johnson & Johnson, a Dell Technologies computer, mentorship, and a scholarship ticket to the 2019 Circular Summit. The two runners-up will each earn $2,500 to support their company’s growth.
