Four rounds complete, two rounds to go: As of July 6, Hello Alice has announced the first 95 recipients of the Business for All COVID-19 Emergency Grant program!

Among the Round 1–4 recipients, you'll find clothing businesses that've pivoted to manufacturing personal protective equipment (PPE) like reusable face masks and caps, and a bath and body shop that's quickly ramped up hand sanitizer production. One founder runs an inclusive therapy practice, and another operates El Paso's first locally-owned stringed instrument shop. Every single recipient has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to supporting their community during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.

As we outlined in a recent blog post, each application underwent a thorough review process. More than 90,000 business owners applied so far, representing every segment of the New Majority, including military-connected individuals, those with disabilities, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. So far, business owners have applied from all 50 states and from nearly every industry.

Of the 95 grant recipients that have been awarded:

  • 64 or 67% are Women
  • 40 or 42% are Black
  • 21 or 22% are Military Connected (9 Military Family Members, 7 Veterans, and 2 Military Spouses)
  • 21 or 22% are Hispanic
  • 21 or 22% are White
  • 10 or 11% are LGBTQ+
  • 10 or 11% are Asian/Pacific Islander
  • 8 or 8% are Individuals with a Disability or Disabilities
  • 3 or 3% are Native/Indigenous

Each grant recipient was notified via a surprise Zoom call from the Hello Alice team. As you can see in each video, some of them got emotional.

Hello Alice appreciates small business owners for their patience as we conduct a thorough and fair review process. While there are more applications than funding, we are disbursing funding on a rolling basis and therefore continue to review new applications.

We still have two rounds of funding to distribute, and our team is working around the clock to continue to fundraise in order to provide as many grants as possible. All Round 1–4 non-recipients will be automatically reconsidered for later rounds of emergency grants.

Below, we've compiled the list of all recipients and a short description of each of their businesses. Keep an eye on Hello Alice social media as we regularly devote our feed to a new founder's story, and stay tuned for Round 5!

Do you or someone you know still need access to emergency funding to help their business survive? Applications are still open for a COVID-19 Business for All Emergency Grant!
